Plain-English summary

We collect the information you give us when you sign up, post, verify as a breeder, or subscribe, plus some technical data about how you use the site. We use it to run the community, process payments (through Stripe), moderate content (with human review and AI-assisted tools), and improve the platform. We do not sell your personal information. If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the CCPA and CPRA, described below. Full details follow.

1. Scope of this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how PURRSCO LLC, doing business as SavCatChat, collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit savcatchat.com or use our services (collectively, the "Platform"). It should be read alongside our Terms of Use and Cookie Policy.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

  • Account information: name or username, email address, password, birth date or age confirmation (to verify you are 18 or older), and profile details you choose to add.
  • Content you post: forum threads, replies, images, videos, and other User Content.
  • Breeder and verification information: for users seeking a verification badge, information needed to complete a TICA registration check, business or cattery details, and state or location information used for home-state and additional-state advertising plans.
  • Payment-related information: billing details needed to process supporter subscriptions or breeder advertising subscriptions. Full card numbers are collected and processed by Stripe, not stored by SavCatChat directly (see Section 4).
  • Communications: messages you send to support, moderation reports you file, and appeal submissions.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, and interactions with the Platform.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: as described in our Cookie Policy, we use Essential, Analytics, and Advertising cookies. Analytics and Advertising cookies are only set with your consent, which is stored client-side and reopenable anytime from the footer.

2.3 Information from third parties

  • Stripe: payment confirmation and limited billing metadata (for example, subscription status) needed to manage your account, but not your full card number.
  • TICA or other registries: verification results used to determine badge eligibility.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and maintain your account and profile.
  • Operate community features (threads, replies, uploads, messaging).
  • Verify breeder eligibility for the verification badge and to enforce that only verified breeders with active advertising plans may list kittens or cats.
  • Process payments for the supporter tier and breeder advertising subscriptions through Stripe.
  • Moderate content, including human review and AI-assisted moderation tools that help flag scam patterns, display scam-alert banners, and support enforcement decisions.
  • Respond to reports, appeals, and support requests.
  • Send administrative communications (for example, billing notices, policy updates, or moderation decisions).
  • Improve, secure, and analyze the Platform (subject to your Analytics and Advertising cookie preferences).
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines.

We do not use your personal information to make decisions about the legality or health of any specific animal, and the verification badge process is a legitimacy check only, not an endorsement or guarantee (see our Terms of Use, Section 3.3).

4. How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information in these circumstances:

  • With other users, as intended by the Platform's design: your public profile, posts, and breeder listings are visible to other users and, depending on your settings, to the public. Breeder contact information included in an ad listing is, by design, visible to prospective buyers.
  • With Stripe: to process supporter and breeder subscription payments. Stripe's use of your information is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
  • With service providers: vendors who help us host the Site, provide AI-assisted moderation tools, send communications, or analyze usage, bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
  • For legal reasons: to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect the rights and safety of PURRSCO LLC and its users, or investigate suspected fraud or scams.
  • In a business transfer: if PURRSCO LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy or a successor policy.

5. Advertising and analytics disclosures

If you consent to Advertising cookies, we and our partners may use information about your activity on the Platform to show relevant ads, including for breeder advertising placements. If you consent to Analytics cookies, we use aggregated and individual usage data to understand how the Platform is used and to improve it. You can withdraw consent to either category anytime through the cookie settings link in the footer. See our Cookie Policy for full detail on the three cookie categories (Essential, Analytics, Advertising).

6. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Platform, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Content you delete may be retained for a limited period in backups or for moderation and safety records. Verification and moderation records may be retained longer where needed to prevent repeat scam or safety violations across accounts.

7. Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's privacy

SavCatChat is restricted to users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a user under 18, we will take steps to delete it and close the associated account.

9. Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you certain rights regarding your personal information.

9.1 Categories of personal information collected

In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information, as defined under the CCPA: identifiers (such as name, email, IP address), account credentials, commercial information (such as subscription and purchase history), internet or network activity information (such as browsing and usage data), geolocation data at the state or regional level (for home-state and additional-state advertising), and, for breeders seeking verification, professional or business information relevant to the verification check. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information beyond what is minimally necessary, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes requiring additional disclosure under the CPRA beyond what is described in this policy.

9.2 Your rights

Subject to certain exceptions, California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected, used, disclosed, and (if applicable) sold or shared, over the past 12 months.
  • Delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions (for example, information needed to complete a transaction, detect fraud, or comply with a legal obligation).
  • Correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. To the extent any advertising-related data sharing could be considered "sharing" under the CPRA's cross-context behavioral advertising definition, you can opt out through your Advertising cookie preference in the footer.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information, to the extent applicable.
  • Non-discrimination: we will not deny goods or services, charge different prices, or provide a different level of service because you exercised a privacy right.

9.3 How to exercise your rights

You can submit a request by emailing [support@savcatchat.com]. We will verify your identity before fulfilling requests to know, delete, or correct information, using information already associated with your account. You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to verification.

10. Other state privacy laws

If you reside in a state with a comprehensive privacy law other than California (for example, laws that may grant similar rights to know, delete, correct, or opt out), we will honor valid requests consistent with applicable law. Contact [support@savcatchat.com] to make a request, and identify your state of residence so we can apply the correct process.

11. Non-U.S. visitors

SavCatChat is designed for and operated from the United States, and this policy is written to comply with U.S. and California law. If you access the Platform from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States, which may not offer the same level of data protection as your home country. By using the Platform, you consent to this transfer and processing. We do not currently offer a GDPR-specific compliance program; visitors from the European Union, United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with their own data protection frameworks should consider this before submitting personal information. *[Attorney note: confirm whether a more detailed EU or UK-facing disclosure, or geo-blocking, is advisable given anticipated visitor traffic.]*

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on the Site, with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

13. Contact us
